Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
Yesterday I took her out to her very first car show. It was about an hour and a half drive from my house. This was the show. 20250521_072043.jpg Although it was mainly the newer LX bodied Mopar's the club invited classic Mopar's to their show. So my buddies and I and a few others showed up. The venu...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
Took her out to a local cruze night. Parked next to my buddy who owns the 69 Dart ragtop.
It was a good night - no issues to report.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
So I finally got a chance to get back in the garage to finish putting the car back together. May 2nd & 3rd (1).jpg Now to button up the engine and get it running. First, put the heads on along with the rocker shafts and rockers. April 29th (1).jpg April 29th (2).jpg Then all the other little bit...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
Spent some time today getting the masking tape off the parts.
I installed these things first.
I also pre-fitted the one piece oil pan gasket to see how it will go when it comes to install it.I installed these things first.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
The outer head studs came out with the nuts as they had many coats of engine paint on the threads....so I soaked them in some paint stripper to get the engine paint off them. March 30 (1).jpg March 30 (2).jpg March 30 (3).jpg The stuff works pretty good. April 5 (1).jpg And now to neutralize the str...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
With the weather still a bit too chilly to spread silicone I prepped and painted up some parts to get them ready.
Here they are masked and ready for paint. And now some paint.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
Well...last weekend I went and picked up the heads. I get there and Al pulls back the shrink wrap one the head with the hole and I see the hole hasn't been fixed. I said to Al WTF??? He says that hole doesn't go anywhere - its not a thru hole. He did pressure test them and the test was good....

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
Well the latest is.........the head has been repaired! I haven't been able to go and pick them up yet as my engine guy who repaired it said that one of the vales had a crack in it and he was ordering a replacement. He is also sourcing me a set of Cometic head gaskets and said to wait a few we...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)
No signs of any cylinder damage. Next, pull the drivers side head. November 17th (17).jpg Looks cleaner in cylinder #6. I checked the bores - they are the same as the passenger side with no damage. So, I took the heads up to my engine guy (the same place that did the dyno work). No sooner did I unlo...
